Media and socializing were of abundance in RTV 371 Wednesday night, October 5, as OURTDNA members took in a riveting presentation on the advantages of social media in the world of journalism.
Attendees learned the importance of building their personal brand. In this new era of the “two-way street,” students are learning the tools to that conversational aspect of journalism earlier and earlier.
In the middle of the meeting the news of Apple founder Steve Jobs’ death broke, sending the social media world into a frenzy. Within minutes, the topic was the top trending topic on Twitter, proving how quickly news spreads in the new age of social media.
The importance of social media is undoubted and students learned exactly why during this meeting.
