I spent my day today reporting on the Center of Excellence Award given to Ohio University’s Scripps School of Communications. Let me tell you, I’ve never been so proud to be a Bobcat. The award was the first Center for Excellence in Cultural and Societal Transformation. Sound confusing? It basically means we in the Scripps School are at the top of our game in innovative thinking. There was an announcement event–attended by Dean of the Scripps College Greg Shepherd, Ohio University President Roderick McDavis, Chancellor Fingerhut, Representative Debbie Phillips and many more prestigious people. But the part that surprised me the most was that so many students showed up to represent the school. I think that’s what sets us apart–not just all the awards we have won–but the fact that the students are so proud to be a part of the Scripps School. Just a thought about such a big award–I said it earlier and I’ll say it again: I am a proud Scripps Bobkitty today.
